Todd Boehly is said to be unhappy over ex-Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia’s failure to sign Aurelien Tchouameni in the summer from AS Monaco.
Boehly, who took over the ownership reigns at Stamford Bridge earlier in the year and is the club’s acting sporting director, believes Tchouameni should have been donning the Chelsea colours this season.
According to a report from the Spanish news outlet Sport, it is claimed that Boehly “does not understand” why Granovskaia did not step up Chelsea’s long-standing interest in moving in for Tchouameni’s signature before he made the move to Real Madrid.
It is understood that then-Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel pursued a deal for bringing in Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez and opted out for signing the France international Tchouameni who has been a hit for his new side in Spain.
Loan signing Saul, meanwhile, struggled to adapt to the Premier League made just five top flight starts before his return to Madrid this summer with Chelsea not mulling over triggering the option to buy clause.
