Former Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia would have blocked Romelu Lukaku’s move away from Chelsea in the summer window had she stayed put at the club.
Granovskaia was key to Chelsea signing Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan in the summer of 2021 with the Stamford Bridge giants splashing out a club-record £97.5 million transfer fee to land the Belgian forward.
Lukaku, however, struggled to meet expectations during his return campaign in the Premier League and the striker was on his way back to San Siro this summer with Inter re-signing him in a season-long loan deal.
According to a report from SOS Fanta, it is claimed that Granovskaia would not have given the green light for Lukaku to leave the Bridge ahead of the 2022-23 campaign had she not left the Chelsea camp.
The change of ownership at Chelsea earlier in the year, with Todd Boehly taking charge, saw high-profile names such as Granovskaia, who had earned much praise for her work behind the scenes, call it quits at the club.
