Rafael van der Vaart urges Chelsea outcast Hakim Ziyech to leave the club

Rafael van der Vaart has urged Chelsea outcast Hakim Ziyech to leave the club in light of the playmaker’s diminishing role in the Stamford Bridge camp.

Ziyech has been handed just one start in all competitions so far this campaign and there are rumours doing the rounds that the former Ajax man could be on his way out when the transfer window reopens come January.

Former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Van der Vaart does not see a future for Ziyech in west London with the former saying that the 29-year-old Chelsea first-teamer should mull over a new destination sooner rather than later, as quoted by The Daily Express.

“Of course, he never really has a smiley face, but now you can see from everything that he is not having a good time. I hope he goes to a club where he can just play and not worry about anything else.

“Ziyech is a boy that always has to play when you get him. Then you can say that Chelsea have so many good players, but guys like him do not like to sit on the bench.”

The likes of AC Milan and Spurs had been credited with an interest in moving in for Ziyech in the summer transfer window but both clubs backed out of the race with Chelsea unwilling to budge on their pricing demands.

With Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joining the Chelsea fold this summer, Ziyech has fallen further down the pecking order and is expected to be deemed surplus to requirements by the new head coach Graham Potter.
