Chelsea will return to the table for summer target Edson Alvarez come January with the Ajax midfielder a top name on the shopping list at Stamford Bridge.
Thomas Tuchel’s side, backed by the new owners led by Todd Boehly, were the Premier League’s biggest spenders in the market this summer Boehly forking out in excess of £ 270million on new signings.
Ajax’s reluctance to part ways with Alvarez, however, came as a blow to Tuchel’s plans of adding to his options in the heart of the midfield even as the Chelsea head coach brought in Denis Zakaria on loan from Juventus on deadline day.
According to a report from the Evening Standard, Alvarez is still said to be Chelsea’s priority on the transfer front and Boehly will be keen to revisit his interest in the Mexican international and land his services in the January window.
Dinamo Moscow starlet Arsen Zakharyan is another player reportedly on Chelsea’s shortlist for the near future with the teenager admitting recently that he was convinced on securing a move to the Bridge sooner rather than later.
