Chelsea open contract renewal talks with star attacker Mason Mount

Chelsea have reportedly opened contract renewal talks with star attacker Mason Mount with a new lucrative long-term deal on the cards for the England international.

The Blues’ new owners, who were big spenders this summer in their first transfer window at Stamford Bridge, have kick-started talks with Mount who is considered key to the future plans for the west London outfit.

According to a report from the Evening Standard, it is claimed that negotiations with Mount over a new deal are expected to take longer than with Reece James who was quick to sign the extension worth £250,000 a week.

There had been speculation over Mount’s situation in the Chelsea camp earlier this year in the summer window with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool credited with an interest in moving in for the Englishman.

Mount, however, is happy to extend his stay at the Bridge and there is the optimism of an agreement being struck between the two parties soon after another of Chelsea’s star players in Reece James penned a six-year contract.
