Crystal Palace have reportedly lodged a £27 million bid for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher ahead of Thursday’s transfer window deadline.
The midfield talent has played in all four of Chelsea’s Premier League matches so far this new campaign with his recent outing, in the 2-1 win over Leicester City, seeing him get the red card just 30 minutes into the game.
Gallagher enjoyed a superb season-long loan spell last season at Selhurst Park and upon his return to the Chelsea fold this summer, there had been questions over his long-term future under Thomas Tuchel’s charge.
According to a report from The Times ( via Metro), it is claimed that Palace are looking to test Chelsea’s resolve on retaining Gallagher beyond the summer window with an initial offer of £27 million tabled by the Eagles.
Gallagher’s potential exit from the Stamford Bridge camp before September 1’s deadline could set the stage for Chelsea to step up their pursuit of Barcelona maestro Frenkie de Jong who remains a top target for the Chelsea manager Tuchel.
