It was a horrid outing at Elland Road on Sunday for Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea who were handed a 3-0 defeat by the home side Leeds United in a largely one-sided contest.

Raheem Sterling came close to finding the back of the net inside the opening exchanges of the game with the summer signing’s shot just wide of the goal.

Leeds created pressure on the other end of the pitch for the Chelsea backline while Sterling did manage to net a goal only for the offside flag to come up.

The home side’s shot stopper Illan Meslier made a good save to deny Mason Mount who had been teed up by Kai Havertz and made a clever effort towards the near post.

Leeds soon got the lead they deserved with Edouard Mendy charged down by Aaronson and the latter had an easy finish into the empty net to make it 1-0 for the hosts.

A free-kick soon came Leeds’ way and the lead was doubled with Rodrigo glancing a header inside Mendy’s back post to ensure his side went into the interval with a healthy advantage.

Chelsea started the second period strongly with Cucurella coming close with his effort while Thomas Tuchel rang in changes from the bench to bring on fresh legs and energize his players.

Leeds rubber-stamped their victory in the later stages with Dan James setting up Jack Harrison to score from close range and Chelsea had their centre-back Koulibaly given the marching orders for his challenge on substitute Joe Gelhardt.
