Chelsea reportedly face a race against time to sign Leicester City dangerman Jamie Vardy with the veteran striker linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium this summer.
Thomas Tuchel’s Blues are joined by Manchester United in the mix for Vardy’s signature despite the Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers being keen on opening talks with Vardy over a new long-term deal.
The 35-year-old Vardy enters the final year of his current terms at Leicester and could be lured to Stamford Bridge with Tuchel keeping close tabs on the ex-England international’s contract situation in the Midlands, according to The Daily Express.
Chelsea parted ways with last summer’s marquee signing Romelu Lukaku earlier in the transfer window with the Belgian frontman, after a disappointing first season back in England, moving back to Inter Milan on loan.
There is speculation that Chelsea could offload another first-team striker in the Germany international Timo Werner whose struggles to adapt to the Premier League could see him leave the club before the window closes.
