Chelsea will reportedly soon make an official offer for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong who has emerged as a top target for the west Londoners this summer.
De Jong was tipped to make the move to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window but the Holland international chose to play the waiting game with his reluctance on signing for Eric ten Hag’s Red Devils well documented.
Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, meanwhile, appeared as strong contenders to prize away De Jong who has been made available by a cash-strapped Barcelona side to raise much-needed funds before the window slams shut later this month.
According to Spanish news outlet Sport ( via football.london), Chelsea are readying their official bid to sign De Jong with Tuchel wasting no time in hijacking Manchester United’s long-standing approach to bring in the Dutch midfield maestro.
The Blues have been on the hunt for reinforcements to shore up their midfield roster with the likes of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho entering the final 12 months of their respective deals at Stamford Bridge.
