Chelsea are understood to be open to a second loan spell for Romelu Lukaku at Inter Milan with an ‘agreement in principle’ already in place between the two clubs.
Lukaku endured a horrid campaign back in England’s top flight after re-signing for Chelsea last summer and the Belgium international, after a rumoured falling out with the boss Thomas Tuchel, left Stamford Bridge ahead of the coming season.
His former club Inter Milan landed his signature in a loan deal and the San Siro giants look set to retain Lukaku’s services beyond the summer of 2023 with Chelsea ready to allow the player to stay on loan at Inter, according to The Telegraph.
It is believed that there is a proposal for the 29-year-old forward to stay at San Siro for a second season under similar terms with Chelsea in line to pocket another loan fee for the Belgian amid his uncertain future in the English capital.
Following Lukaku’s departure earlier in the transfer window, the Blues have brought in England international winger Raheem Sterling from Manchester City in a £50 million transfer to add to their attacking options.
