Chelsea register interest in signing Allan Saint-Maximin from Newcastle United

Chelsea have registered their interest in signing Allan Saint-Maximin from Newcastle United this summer to add to their attacking options.

Raheem Sterling’s arrival at Stamford Bridge this summer in a big-money deal has given Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel a viable option to bolster his forward lineup after the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan.

Tuchel, however, remains in the transfer market for reinforcements before the next season kicks off and it is said that Newcastle talisman Saint-Maximin has been identified as a possible name on Chelsea’s shortlist, according to a report from The Daily Express.

Tottenham Hotspur were also reportedly interested in moving in for Saint-Maximin but with the North London side signing Richarlison from Everton, Chelsea could emerge as the frontrunner to land Saint-Maximin’s signature.

The French forward netted five goals and provided a further five assists in his 35 outings for Newcastle United last term with the St. James’ Park outfit hoping to pocket a sizable £40 million for sanctioning his sale.
