French centre-back Presnel Kimpembe wants to stay at Paris Saint-Germain despite interest shown in his services from Chelsea in this summer’s transfer window.
The 26-year-old is wanted by former PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel who is busy hunting for much-needed reinforcements to shore up his Chelsea backline before the next season kicks off.
After bringing in Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli last week for a fee in the region of £34 million, Tuchel has set his sights on moving in for PSG’s mainstay Kimpembe but a deal to land the France international looks unlikely at this stage.
According to a report from French outlet L’Equipe, Kimpembe is keen to stay put with the Parisians and has conveyed the same to PSG chiefs upon his return to pre-season training that he does not desire a move to the Premier League.
Kimpembe’s stance is certain to mean that Chelsea will be forced to turn their attention back to a long-standing name on Tuchel’s wishlist in the Sevilla star Jules Kounde who has grown on the idea of signing for the Blues.
