Napoli central defender Kalidou Koulibaly arrived in London to complete his medical ahead of finalising the move to Chelsea in a deal worth £34 million.
The Senegal international is understood to be Chelsea’s top name on the shopping list for this summer to bolster the backline at Thomas Tuchel’s disposal which has lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen of late.
Koulibaly, who enters the final 12 months of his current terms in Naples, is keen on the idea of making the move to the Premier League and Chelsea have now stepped up their approach to bringing the Serie A star to Stamford Bridge.
According to a report from The Daily Mail, the 31-year-old centre-back will undergo his medical examination on Thursday and set the stage for his official unveiling as a Chelsea player in the coming days much to the delight of the supporters.
Koulibaly’s imminent arrival comes on the back of Chelsea falling behind Bayern Munich in the chase for Juventus contract rebel Matthijs de Ligt who has his heart set on joining the Bavarians over the Stamford Bridge outfit.
