Chelsea confirm capture of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City

Chelsea have sounded the long-awaited confirmation of the landing of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City on a five-year contract.

The Blues put out a statement on their official website announcing the signing of the London-born wide player who leaves the English top-flight champions Manchester City seven years since he made the move to Etihad from Liverpool.

Sterling becomes the first recruit under the new Chelsea ownership of Todd Boehly with the American businessman, following his taking charge at Stamford Bridge, earmarking the player as his priority target for this summer’s transfer window.

According to a claim from ESPN, Sterling joins Chelsea in a £47.5 million deal which could rise to £50m with add-ons and the England international has put pen to paper on a long-term contract which runs until the summer of 2027.

The 27-year-old winger clinched four Premier League winners medals, an FA Cup title and four League Cup titles during his time in the Manchester City shirt with 131 goals in 339 appearances.
