Chelsea are looking to move in for Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet with Thomas Tuchel hoping to take advantage of his £17.5 million relegation release clause.
The west Londoners are in the market for reinforcements to bolster their attacking lineup and had pursued a deal for Leeds United wantaway star Raphinha only for the Brazilian to close in on joining long-standing suitors Barcelona.
A setback on that front is likely to have forced the Chelsea head coach Tuchel to focus on alternatives on his shopping list with the Stamford Bridge camp credited with a surprise interest in Burnely’s Maxwel Cornet, according to a report from TeamTalk.
Cornet has often been utilised as a makeshift wing-back at Turf Moor and his versatility makes him a viable target for Tuchel who is also on the hunt for a left-sided wing-back to provide cover for the returning Ben Chilwell.
Spain international Marcos Alonso has been heavily tipped to leave the Bridge in this summer’s transfer window with Barcelona keen on making an approach for the wing-back.
