Chelsea have reportedly gained major ground in pursuit of Stuttgart wing-back Borna Sosa with the Bundesliga club open to sanctioning the player’s sale this summer.
The highly-rated Sosa had emerged as a target for the Blues who are keen to bring in a fresh face to provide competition to Ben Chilwell in the left wing-back role with Marcos Alonso’s future hanging in the balance.
According to a report from the German publication Heidenheimer Zeitung, Stuttgart required funds for their own transfer business in the summer and are open to parting ways with the wantaway Sosa for a £21 million asking price.
Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s new owner and who is set to take charge as chairman come June 30, is expected to provide the financial backing for the boss Thomas Tuchel to overhaul his ranks before the start of the new campaign.
Sosa’s recruitment could be a real shot in the arm for Tuchel’s depleted defensive roster with the 24-year-old Stuttgart star registering nine assists in his 30 appearances last term besides scoring twice.
