Romelu Lukaku has reportedly snubbed the opportunity to sign for Chelsea’s city rivals Tottenham Hotspur who were keen on landing the Belgian this summer.
According to a report from Sports Witness, Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a blow in their pursuit of the in-demand Chelsea forward player who wants to sign only for Inter if he does call it quits at the Bridge this summer.
Antonio Conte, now in charge of Spurs, has worked with Lukaku before during their days at Inter Milan where they were instrumental in the club’s Serie A triumph across the 2020-21 campaign.
Lukaku had since then made the move back to Stamford Bridge last summer from Inter in a big-money deal while Conte, taking up the top job with Spurs, led the North Londoners to an impressive top four finish in the Premier League.
Chelsea, however, are mulling over parting ways with Lukaku ahead of the start of the next campaign with the striker struggling to provide the firepower in the attacking third which is of much importance to the boss Thomas Tuchel and his side.
