As soon as his takeover is approved, Todd Boehly will order Chelsea to begin their preparations for the transfer window.
For the soon-to-be new owner, who was at Stamford Bridge on Saturday to watch Thomas Tuchel’s team continue their worrisome end-of-season decline, the summer window is considered an immediate priority.
There are real concerns within the club that they will be playing catch-up this summer as a result of Roman Abramovich’s sanctioning.
Tuchel has been powerless to block the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, who are out of contract, as well as Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso.
Despite scoring twice against Wolves, Romelu Lukaku’s future remains uncertain, with his boss unwilling to lavish praise on the £97.5 million strikers, who has been such a failure since joining from Inter Milan last summer.
Tuchel is still not convinced that the Belgium international can be a long-term option at the point of attack, and sources close to Lukaku say his reaction on Saturday surprised them.
Boehly has made it obvious that he is willing to make significant investments in the first team, and this summer is shaping up to be critical for the American, whose consortium agreed to buy out Abramovich on Friday.
Before the sale can go through, the Government and the Premier League must give their consent, but there aren’t believed to be any roadblocks.

Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter, and Hansjorg Wyss have agreed to pay £2.5 billion for the club and have committed to an additional £1.75 billion investment to assure its success in the future.
Tuchel will the full backing in the forthcoming transfer market, as well as the rebuilding of Stamford Bridge and financing for the academy and women’s team.
