Everton inches closer to 17th place after a crucial win against Chelsea thanks to Richarlison’s only goal of the game which made the difference.
First Half
The first 45 minutes didn’t have much drama on the field apart from a glorious opportunity for the Evertonians after Anthony Gordon came close to opening up the scoresheet.
The Englishmen make a solo run into Chelsea’s 18-yard-box and cuts inside the right-wing to fie a low effort towards the bottom right corner. However, the strike flies inches past the post.
Second Half
Richarlison’s deadlock-breaking goal shifted the game to the home team’s advantage in the second half, portraying a different story than the first half
Club captain Cesar Azpilicueta takes too long in possession right on the edge of his own box and the Brazilian striker nicks it off him Demari Gray picks it up and flicks immediately to his striker just to see his team-mate cooly slide the ball past Mendy.
Since the London side was trailing by a goal, Chelsea moved up a gear and started to hard balls into Everton’s penalty box but couldn’t manage to put the ball inside the net.
Jordan Pickford had the busiest time between the sticks after Kai Haverts and Mason Mount combined an open goal for Azpilicueta to score but the Spaniard’s attempt on goal was blocked by the Englishmen.
In less than a minute, a thundering shot from Antonio Rudiger from close range made the England international produce another terrific save to keep his side from harm’s way.
Both sides had moments to score after the one-hour mark but failed to capitalize on their chances as the game ended up in three points claim for the home team.
