Antonio Rudiger is set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season on a free transfer with Real Madrid the frontrunners for his coveted signature.
The Germany international has long been speculated to be closing in on an exit from the Chelsea fold ahead of this coming summer with Rudiger deciding against renewing his terms.
Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea outfit are now resigned to losing their defensive mainstay with the Stamford Bridge club’s offer worth more than £200,000 a week turned down by Rudiger before the sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich by the UK government.
According to a report from The Guardian, it is claimed that the former Roma centre-back is now set to call it quits at the Bridge come the summer with his long-term suitors Real Madrid in pole position to secure his signing on a Bosman deal.
Rudiger will be sidelined for Chelsea’s forthcoming league fixture this Sunday against city rivals West Ham United with the 29-year-old nursing a groin injury that forced him to sit out the Arsenal clash last time around.
