Thiago Silva has voiced big praise for Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta whose future at Stamford Bridge continues to attract speculation.
Azpilicueta is out of contract in the colours of Chelsea come the summer and there is talk gaining ground that FC Barcelona are in pole position to land the Spain international defender on a free transfer.
The Catalans are in the market for defensive reinforcements and have set their sights on the Chelsea contract rebel Azpilicueta who has been reluctant so far on renewing terms in the English capital with the Blues.
Veteran Brazil international Thiago Silva, another of Thomas Tuchel’s trusted options at the back for Chelsea, has been lavish in his praises for Azpilicueta with the latter labelled as ‘spectacular footballer’ by the former Paris Saint-Germain man.
Speaking to the Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, Silva voiced plaudits for Azpilicueta’s ability out there on the pitch coupled with his skipper like quality in leading Chelsea to glory in recent campaigns.
“Cesar Azpilicueta, since I arrived, was one of my main sources of support.
“There are players who have what it takes to be captain and he is one of them. He is a player who seeks union, who tries to help others. He is a spectacular footballer and a super-professional who, with certainty, deserves to be where is. Azpilicueta has beastly conditions.”
