Antonio Rudiger wants Juventus to double his salary for the summer transfer to go through as the centre-back mulls over leaving Chelsea.
The Germany international has been one of the top performers under Thomas Tuchel’s charge at Stamford Bridge but the ongoing contract standoff with the Blues board could lead to Rudiger’s exit in the coming months.
He is out of contract in the English capital come the end of the season and the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus are credited with a strong interest in the 29-year-old’s signature.
A report from the Italian news outlet Calciomercato has claimed that Rudiger and his camp have asked Serie A heavyweights Juventus to double his existing salary of around £4.1 million which he pockets in the Chelsea shirt.
There is speculation doing the rounds that Newcastle United, on the back of their takeover by a Saudi Arabian group, are looking at Rudiger as a top name on the shopping list for the summer window where the Magpies are expected to bring in big signings.
