Chelsea attempted a deadline day move for FC Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele with the Frenchman still on the wishlist at Stamford Bridge for the summer.
Dembele had been heavily linked to seal a move to the Premier League in the final hours of the January transfer window with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal chasing the wide player’s signature.
The switch to England’s top flight from the Camp Nou fold, however, was not to be on the cards for Dembele despite speculation rife that the player was in line to put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year deal for Thomas Tuchel’s Blues, according to reports from the Spanish news outlet ABC.
He looks set to stay put at Barcelona until the end of the season when he would enter into free agency and have his suitors in the transfer market eye up his signature once again with Chelsea tipped to lead the race.
Thomas Tuchel is on the hunt for another attacking signing to bolster his ranks with the Chelsea manager unable to get the best out of his marquee recruit of last summer in the Belgian Romelu Lukaku.
