Chelsea are reportedly lagging behind Manchester United in the chase for Ousmane Dembele’s signature ahead of the summer’s transfer window.
Barcelona’s director of football Mateu Alemany recently sounded out admission that the club is mulling over cashing in on Dembele this month after failing to agree on terms on a new long-term deal.
Dembele has been heavily linked with a move away from Barcelona with the Frenchman’s terms at Camp Nou due to expire at the end of the season and no breakthrough understood to be in line between the two parties on the renewal front.
According to reports from football.london, Chelsea have been overtaken by fierce rivals Manchester United in the race for Dembele with the Old Trafford camp willing to table a wage hike for the France international.
Thomas Tuchel’s Blues have been credited with a strong interest in the Barcelona contract rebel with Tuchel having worked with Dembele in the past at Borussia Dortmund which could aid Chelsea’s approach for the winger.
