Confirmed Lineups: Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur – Sarr starts, Alonso benched

Marcos Alonso drops down to the bench for Chelsea who have Malang Sarr returning to the XI for the weekend clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

Thomas Tuchel’s men will be eyeing a much-needed return to form and winning ways in league action as they welcome their rivals from across the city to Stamford Bridge.

Four-man backline for the hosts

With Alonso benched for today’s outing, Thomas Tuchel has likely resorted to a four-man defensive lineup for his side with Antonio Rudiger joined by the veteran Brazilian Thiago Silva in the heart of the backline.

Skipper Cesar Azpilicueta is likely to take the full-back spot on the right side of the pitch while Malang Sarr, upon his recall back into the XI, should take up the opposite flank.

Kante on the bench

Mateo Kovacic partners Italy international Jorginho in the centre of the park with N’Golo Kante starting the game on the bench to much surprise.

In the final third, Romelu Lukaku and Callum Hudson-Odoi operate in striking roles with Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech slotting in the advanced midfield position.
