Thomas Tuchel offered an injury update ahead of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup semi-final tie against city rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night at the Bridge.
The Chelsea boss confirmed in his pre-match presser that central defender Trevoh Chalobah, who suffered a recurrence of his hamstring niggle against Liverpool last time around, will sit out the upcoming cup game.
Andreas Christensen could be another Blues defensive star joining Chalobah on the sidelines with the former deemed a major doubt to make the squad for the west Londoners, according to Tuchel.
‘Trevoh is definitely out for tomorrow because he has had a reinjury from before.’
‘Andreas is a doubt for tomorrow’.
A positive sign on the injury front, however, is the return of Germany international Timo Werner, sounded out the gaffer Tuchel, with the former taking part in training ahead of the London derby.
Werner could be in line to make the squad come Wednesday in the English capital but will have to contend with a place on the bench as Tuchel will look to give his star striker some valuable minutes later on in the first of the tw0-legged semi-final clash.
‘Timo Werner trained yesterday, we have one more session to go and he feels much better which is a really good sign.
He took part in full training, at full intensity and had no reaction at all. If today’s training goes well for him then we will look to have him on the bench and maybe give him some minutes.’
