Chelsea are on the road once again but this time in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup to take on the Premier League’s new boys Brentford on Wednesday night.
Thomas Tuchel’s men will aim for a return to their best and bounce back after the recent draw against Wolves on Sunday which left them trailing the table-toppers Manchester City by six points.
Here is how Tuchel is expected to set up his Blues starting eleven for the weekend outing against Brentford –
3-4-2-1
Kepa will be in line for starting duty with the Spain shot-stopper expected to take over from Edouard Mendy for the role between the goalposts.
The ongoing COVID-19 crisis leaves Tuchel bereft of his star regulars in the Chelsea ranks and we could see an unchanged backline from last time around.
Mateo Kovacic will be in the mix for a return to the starting team sheet with the midfielder set to replace Trevoh Chalobah who is now a concern on the injury front following the Wolves clash.
In the final third, Hakim Ziyech was sounded out an injury concern too with further assessment likely to be made on the winger’s availability for the cup tie away at Brentford.
