The tireless Frenchman holds central midfield for his nation and had been doing so for Chelsea until last season, before the dawn of General Jorginho in the Blues. Maurizio Sarri brought with him from Italy his general of Napoli, Jorginho and assigned him, his favored position, central midfield. That meant Kante had to switch his position to right flank of the midfield.
Prominent traits of defensive midfield have been seen in Kante as the Frenchman has impressed one and all with the pace with which he stops and tackles the forwards. Yet, Maurizio Sarri preferred Jorginho over Kante in the centre where Italian has been making records, impressing the fans and making it tougher for Kante to get back his position.
The same position which earned shy lad a place in FIFA FIFPro 11 other night, the same position which has earned him laurels and made him star from a player.
Nevertheless, Kante will sweat his way out to provide maximum to the team and has been performing pretty well in his new offensive midfield position apart from creating aerial threats. He is good with his feet as he has always been but when it comes to convert the crosses into the post, the Frenchman lacks a plenty.
When you ask a player to do what he is not good at, this can happen. Kante has never been good with aerial balls into the box which was purely recognizable in his feeble attempts.
Surely, will Sarri have to look into the game as the league progresses if he does not want to lose his top spot to the threats coming from behind and wants to out shine Liverpool who have won 6 out of 6 matches.
Unsurprisingly, Kante will have to play in the same position for the season while Sarri will have to ponder upon the ways to bring out the best from the Frenchman.
