Chelsea will need to fork out a transfer fee in the region of €40 million in the next summer transfer window to land Saul Niguez on a permanent transfer.
The Spain international midfield man linked with Thomas Tuchel’s Stamford Bridge camp in the final hours of the deadline day this summer with the Chelsea boss having pursued a new signing to bolster his options in the centre of the park.
Saul joins the Blues in a season-long loan deal with speculation rife whether the Atletico Madrid loanee will be staying put at Stamford Bridge beyond the end of the 2021-22 campaign as Tuchel deals with lack of senior players in his midfield ranks.
Speaking on his Here We Go Podcast, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea will have a price tag of €40 million to meet over and above the loan fee paid to Atletico worth €5 million.
Chelsea have an option to make Saul’s switch to the Premier League permanent with Thomas Tuchel’s decision largely expected on the run of form put in by the Spaniard over the course of his stay at the club.
“Let me clarify one thing. The clause, the buy option, because it’s a loan for €5million (£4.3million) with a buy option.
“It’s not €30million (£25.7million) as I see sometimes, it’s €40million (£34.2million). So, it’s €5million loan, €40million buy option. This is the details for the Saul deal.”
