Alvaro Morata has blamed Antonio Conte for his poor performance last season. The Spaniard blamed Conte’s ‘direct’ style of play for his woeful performance last season. Coming into the season, the former Madrid forward had a poor run scoring just 3 goals in last 23 appearances. The goal-drought also saw him out of the World cup squad in Russia and the Blues out of Champions league. Morata agreed that he is not that good with balls in the air and said: “Last season it was direct balls and for me to protect the ball in the air is not my best quality.”
The Spain international has performed well in both the matches under Sarri, scoring a goal in the latter match and has praised Sarri’s style of play for his good run. The forward who was reported to leave back to Spain or Italy this season has proved his worth and shown everyone what he is capable of has shown that he has the ability to give back to Chelsea their worth of money spent on him.
Morata said that he would perform well under Sarri because “Sarri works with the ball always and when you always have the ball the strikers have more chances, where I can attack the space, I can play one touch and go in the area for the crosses. It’s better for me”
If the same confidence and faith is shown on Morata it will be a tough battle for the golden boot between the strikers of top clubs and it would surely mean that Morata will give a tough fight to the expected winners like Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane, Mohammad Salah or even his team-mate Eden Hazard.
