Chelsea are backed to make a January transfer window swoop for Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly as an alternative to Sevilla’s Jules Kounde whose move to Stamford Bridge fell through this summer.
Kounde had been eyed up by the Blues coach Thomas Tuchel who was keen on adding to his options at the back by signing the highly-rated French centre-back from Sevilla.
The La Liga outfit, however, remained firm on their pricing demands for sanctioning Kounde’s sale in the final days of the transfer window which convinced Chelsea to pull the plug on any potential deal to bring in the player.
Reports from football.london have now suggested that Napoli’s defensive mainstay Kalidou Koulibaly is emerging as Thomas Tuchel’s alternative in the transfer market by the time January comes around during which the Chelsea manager will be tipped to bolster his defensive line.
Koulibaly has made his name as one of the top defenders in the Serie A and Napoli could be subject to an offer from the Chelsea camp to sign the Senegal international who has been linked with a Stamford Bridge switch in the past.
