Chelsea to make a final attempt to sign long-term target Jules Kounde

Chelsea are working towards tabling one last bid to lure Sevilla into parting ways with their defensive mainstay Jules Kounde who has been a top target for Thomas Tuchel this summer.

The young French defender is understood to be key to Tuchel’s plans for the ongoing summer transfer window at Stamford Bridge with the Chelsea boss hoping to improve upon his existing options at the back.

Reports from Spanish news outlet AS claim that the Blues are in line to make their final effort to land the 23-year-old Kounde but Tuchel’s camp will need to increase their previous offer should they have any chance of signing the Sevilla man.

Kounde’s release clause is worth €80 million and that is considered unlikely to be met by his suitors Chelsea who are believed to be keen on offering less than that and convince Sevilla on lowering their asking price for their star defender.

Sevilla have already zeroed in on Marseille’s defender Boubacar Kamara as Kounde’s potential replacement at the back with the La Liga outfit understood to be confident that Chelsea will revive their long-standing interest in signing Kounde before the transfer window’s deadline.
