Chelsea’s quest to find a third-choice goalkeeping option from the transfer market this summer might take them to Marcus Bettinelli who was recently let go of by Fulham.
Reports from The Athletic claim that Thomas Tuchel is eyeing up a move for the former Fulham shot-stopper following the departure of Argentine veteran Willy Caballero earlier in this summer’s transfer window.
The 29-year-old Bettinelli was released by Fulham after the player failed to come to an agreement with the Craven Cottage outfit over a new deal with Bettinelli spending the last season on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough.
Thomas Tuchel has the options of Edouard Mendy and Kepa to fill in between the sticks for the west London giants but the Chelsea boss has been heavily backed to bring in a fresh face for the third-choice spot in the pecking order before the 2021-22 Premier League campaign gets underway.
Besides Bettinelli, the much-experienced name of Wales international goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey is also doing the round around Stamford Bridge with the player out of a club after being released by Crystal Palace at the end of the last season.
