Serie A outfit AS Roma’s interest in signing Chelsea outcast defender Emerson Palmieri could cost them a hefty fee with Chelsea seeking an offer worth €25 million, according to reports from Sky Sports.
Emerson turned out in just two Premier League outings last season for the Blues with the Italy international being surpassed by both Marcos Alonso and new recruit Ben Chilwell in the pecking order.
Despite his limited first-team involvement at Stamford Bridge over the past couple of campaigns, Emerson remains a regular name on the Italy teamsheet at the UEFA European CHampionships where Roberto Mancini’s men are through to the finals after a win over Spain.
Chelsea are believed to be wanting a €25 million bid coming their way from Roma who have recently appointed an ex-Blues boss in Jose Mourinho as their manager ahead of the start of the 2021-22 season in Italy. The Portuguese coach has landed in Italy this summer after being handed the axe at Tottenham Hotspur earlier this year.
Mourinho is being forced to scout the transfer market for alternatives in the wake of a long-term injury layoff for Leonardo Spinazzola who was a target for the Blues in this summer’s transfer window.
