Marcos Alonso has emerged as a target for AS Roma in this summer’s transfer window with the Italian club’s new boss Jose Mourinho looking for a new left-back in light of the recent long-term injury layoff for Leonardo Spinazzola.
Spinazzola, one of Italy’s top performers at the UEFA European Championships which are currently underway, has courted interest from Chelsea owing to his splendid run of form in the wing-back role for Roberto Mancini’s men over the course of the month-long tournament which is now into its final stages.

However, a recent injury blow means that the AS Roma man will be sidelined from on-field action for the next six months, luring Mourinho into using the transfer market to bring in a new left-sided full-back name to the Stadio Olimpico.
Reports from Football Italia suggest that Chelsea will be demanded of by the Italians to pay a major chunk of Alonso’s wage with the Spanish international eyed up by Roma for a season-long loan arrangement running until the summer of 2022.
Alonso has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer despite extended first-team involvement for him under Tuchel as Inter Milan show interest in signing the former Fiorentina player.
