FC Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic has been backed to call it quits at the Catalan outfit this summer with the Bosnian international enduring a dismal debut campaign at the club since his transfer last summer.
Chelsea have been positioned as a destination for the former Juventus playmaker to arrive at but reports from Spanish publication Marca claim that joining the Blues in the fray for Pjanic are fellow Londoners Tottenham Hotspur.
Pjanic’s miserable first season in the FC Barcelona shirt has convinced Ronald Koeman to offload the midfield player this summer to lighten the burden on the club’s hefty wage bill which has made Chelsea and other clubs across the land keep tabs on the 31-year-old.
The Blues have shipped out the promising midfield talent in Billy Gilmour out to Premier League new boys Norwich City on a season-long loan spell and have been looking for suitors to offload the fringe likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tiémoué Bakayoko as well in time for the start of the upcoming campaign.
