Chelsea face competition from RB Leipzig for the in-demand Wolfsburg man Maxence Lacroix

The Blues are set to battle Bundesliga side RB Leipzig on the transfer front this summer with both clubs vying hard for the signature of Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix.

The centre-back has courted attention from a number of clubs across the continent and with the transfer window currently in operation, Chelsea will look to sign the player to bolster their defensive options ahead of the start of the next season.

Reports from Foot Mercato claim that the west London giants will be challenged by RB Leipzig for the 21-year-old Lacroix who was an influential figure for the Wolfsburg backline this past season.

With Chelsea losing Fikayo Tomori to AC Milan just recently and amid doubts lingering over the long-term futures at Stamford Bridge for both Antonio Rudiger and Kurt Zouma, Thomas Tuchel will be convinced on using the transfer window to bring in a quality defensive talent.

It is believed that Laxroix’s price tag is valued around the €30 million mark which is something that will not trouble Chelsea who are backed to spend big this summer in what is tipped to be a minor overhaul of their ranks.
