AC Milan set to complete permanent swoop for Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori

Serie A giants AC Milan have triggered Fikayo Tomori’s buy-out clause and look set to secure the signing of the England international central defender which had been a priority for the San Siro outfit.

Tomori joined the Italian side in the January window earlier this year after falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and in his limited time away from west London he has stepped up massively with his showings at the back.

Helping AC Milan seal Champions League qualification for the next season, Tomori was a key target for Stefano Pioli’s side who have now exercised the option to sign the young defender on a permanent deal, according to reports from Sky Sports.

Chelsea are now in line to confirm their first significant departure from the first-team fold this summer which could mean Thomas Tuchel prioritising an extension for first-team regular Antonio Rudiger whose contract comes a close at the end of this forthcoming season.

Rudiger so far has remained mum on his intentions of signing a long-term deal with the Blues as the German centre-back insisting that he will take a decision on his contract standoff after the UEFA Euros.
