Ex-Chelsea playmaker Joe Cole insists Romelu Lukaku could be a fantastic piece of transfer business for Thomas Tuchel’s Blues with the Belgium international linked with a return to west London this summer.
Lukaku has enjoyed a superb 2020-21 campaign in the Inter Milan shirt and has helped the Italian giants reclaim Serie A glory after a ten-year gap, chipping in with a tally of 24 goals across the domestic season.
But with the recent departure of Antonio Conte from the Inter Milan top job, talk of Lukaku seeking an exit ahead of the new season and re-signing for his old club Chelsea has gained traction.
The Blues are understood to be looking at a host of big-name attackers with Tuchel keen to improve his options upfront taking into light Timo Werner’s dismal run of form since his move last summer.
Speaking to Sunday World, former England international Joe Cole believes Chelsea should be in line to extend an offer for their old player as the Inter Milan striker and Timo Werner could settle in well together at Stamford Bridge, according to Cole.
“If Lukaku is available for the right price, I think Chelsea would take him.”
“He’s one of the top strikers out there. For me, there is space for Lukaku and Werner at Chelsea because they both offer different things.
“You want quality players in and around the box because if chances come their way, they will take them.
“You need options to win titles.”
