Chelsea’s mission would be to rubber-stamp their top-four status come Sunday with Thomas Tuchel’s outfit taking on Aston Villa away from home in the final gameweek of the 2020-21 Premier League season.
The Blues had moved into third in the league standings courtesy of a 2-1 win over Leicester City which came just days after they were handed a narrow defeat by the Foxes in the FA Cup final.
Aston Villa also come into the weekend fixture on the back of a pivotal win for Dean Smith’s side, a 2-1 scoreline being enjoyed by them when facing Tottenham Hotspur in the capital city earlier this week.
With Liverpool and Leicester both poised to give their very best in what is to left to play for in the campaign, Tuchel will be aware that nothing less than all three points will be of importance to his side who stand just two points clear of Jurgen Klopp’s Reds in the league table.

TEAM NEWS
N’Golo Kante was withdrawn off the pitch last time around during the win over Leicester City for the west London giants and it remains to be seen whether the Frenchman will take any part in Sunday’s game at Villa Park.
Tuchel, however, has Mateo Kovacic returning to the fold at Stamford Bridge after the Croatian’s time out on the sidelines with an injury meaning he could be in line to partner Jorginho in midfield should Kante be deemed unfit to play.
Andres Christensen is an injury concern for Chelsea with the Danish centre-back having injured his hamstring and reports yet to confirm whether he is in the mix to feature in the final domestic fixture for the Blues.
