Tuchel’s men started the game on the front foot in the attacking half of the pitch as the presence of a host of options up top help supplement Chelsea’s chances of taking an early lead.

Mason Mount continued his upsurge in form which has been so evident this season as the midfielder picked up a pass from Thiago Silva and sent it Kai Havertz’s way which was slotted in calmly past Fulham No.1 Areola by the German international.

Fulham looked to find a way back into the game and Chelsea goalie Mendy had to be at his very best to defy the visitors frontline from netting the leveler.

Mendy was called into action to deny Ademola Lookman’s driving effort before Timo Werner’s strike on the opposite end of the pitch was kept out by Areola with the Blues hoping to put the match to bed.

Fresh into the second half Chelsea looked clear favourites to grab the second goal of the game but Fulham were in no mood to offer the match to the hosts who had to toil hard for increasing their advantage.

Werner turned provider for his compatriot Havertz who got his second of the goal as his first-time finish past Areola meant that the Blues were cruising towards a win which would surely boost their top-four ambitions.

Chelsea’s defence withstood the repeated attempts of Fulham to pull one back as the final whistle marked the end of another influential performance by the Blues.
