Former Manchester City man Danny Mills believes Tammy Abraham would rebuff potential interest from long-term suitors Aston Villa this summer as the England international may find it hard to claim a regular spot for Dean Smith’s men.
Mills says that the presence of the in-form Ollie Watkins could make things difficult for Abraham should he seal the move to Villa Park ahead of the next season.
Watkins has been in fine form over the course of this campaign for the Midlanders and was recently awarded his first call-up to the England fold by Gareth Southgate where the Villa forward netted a goal on his debut appearance.
“I don’t think Abraham would want to go and play second fiddle, if I’m honest,” Mills said to Football Insider.
“I don’t think he would want to be at a club where he’s not going to be the main striker.
“Watkins is now in the England squad and scored on his debut which is absolutely huge and takes him to another level.
“I think Abraham will have to just wait and see what options there are if he is looking at a potential move away.”
Abraham is currently nursing himself from a persistent ankle issue sustained last month in Chelsea’s win over Newcastle United and the England international looks a long time away from making a return to on-field action.
