Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz remains hopeful of turning his mediocre spell so far in the Chelsea colours for the best as the Germany international admitted that it had not been smooth sailing so far since signing for the west Londoners last summer.
Havertz arrived at Stamford Bridge to much fanfare from the Chelsea supporters on the back of an impressive spell with Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen but the German talent has been unable to replicate a similar run of showings in English top-flight action.
With just a solitary goal and two assists to his name so far, many believe that Havertz has failed to justify the £71 million shelled out his signature by then Chelsea boss Frank Lampard who ultimately got the sack earlier this year with the Blues languishing way out of the top-four in the Premier League standings.
The 22-year-old, however, has voiced confidence over hitting the ground running soon as he claimed that a move abroad brought about a tough challenge for him which he would be hoping to overcome in the coming weeks.
“It’s been a tough season,” Havertz said as quoted by ESPN.
“I know that things haven’t been going smoothly.
“But I think that’s normal when you first go abroad. It takes half a year or longer to adjust.
“I think that things are going well right now so I don’t want to overthink those negative impressions from the past. I am positive and hope that the next weeks will be every bit as good.”
