Leeds United 0-0 Chelsea Match Report | Premier League 20-21

Thomas Tuchel kept his unbeaten strike alive as the Chelsea boss with the west Londoners salvaging a goalless draw from their visit to Elland Road on Saturday.

The hosts enjoyed the greater of chances but another solid display from the Chelsea backline ensured a hard-earned point for both sides.

A lively first-half was notable for Leeds United’s Tyler Roberts coming close twice within a matter of few minutes to put his side ahead in the lead, only for the player to be deemed offside for the first effort and the crossbar coming to a much-tinkered Chelsea’s aid the second time around.

On either side of Roberts’ efforts, the Blues could have taken the luckiest of leads through Diego Llorente, whose back caught a clearance from his own teammate and looped over Illan Meslier onto the crossbar.

Towards the close of the half, Tuchel’s men upped their attacking prowess through Kai Havertz and Mason Mount but Meslier pulled a couple of great stops to keep his team in the contest heading into the break.

Meslier was called into action early on at the start of the second half as the Leeds United No.1 producing a good save to defy Havertz’ ambitious effort.

Rodrigo, who had been brought off the bench to take the injured Patrick Bamford’s place early on in the game, connected well with the ball from a delivery into the box from Roberts and Chelsea goalie Mendy had to be at his best to defy the Leeds forward.

The game soon fizzled out for its attacking endeavours as both teams looked happy to take a point apiece from the weekend showdown in South Yorkshire and the full-time whistle marked the end of an entertaining but goalless affair.
