Thomas Tuchel insists that Chelsea’s resurgence is primarly due to his players

Chelsea’s upsurge in recent form has been credited to the players in the Blues shirt by new boss Thomas Tuchel, with the German insisting that despite being flattered in light of praise for his side, the players were responsible for the turnaround.

Tuchel’s taking over at the managerial reigns for the west Londoners coincided with his new side recording a brilliant run of form across Premier League football and renewing their top-four credentials with important wins both home and away.

And in light of recent plaudits coming the former Paris Saint-Germain boss’ way, Tuchel remained adamant over redirecting the praise towards his players, who the German coach claimed had exhibited a wonderful bond and an unbelievable attitude.

“I’m very flattered to have such compliments come my way but all the plaudits and all the flowers should go to the players and to the club,” Tuchel said in an interview to the club’s official website.

“Chelsea, as an organisation, has everything you need to be successful as a club. The setup is there and now it is my job as head coach of this football team to bring out the very best of both myself and the players.

“There is no other way to express myself than with strong team performances and I’m so happy to be on the sidelines here. I’m very happy with the unbelievable attitude my players have shown both towards training and games. I feel the bond that is shown from each player is at the exact necessary level needed to be successful.

“In world football, the teams that stand out as successful are those who fight for one another. Those teams that sacrifice for one another, that push one another both on the pitch and from the bench and this is exactly what I have found since I arrived at Chelsea.

“There is so much talent at this club and it’s a pleasure to work with this group every day and compete against other top managers and teams. We are enjoying this moment and working hard to maintain these levels.”

The Blues, after their midweek triumph over the under-fire champions Liverpool, will take on another Merseyside outfit in their forthcoming top-flight fixture as high-flying Everton make the travels to Stamford Bridge.

Victory over the Toffees come Monday would provide a major boost for Chelsea’s ambitions of cementing their top-four status this season in the Premier League ahead of the likes of Liverpool and West Ham United.
