Tottenham Hotspur have been put on alert over talks of Chelsea tabling a new deal in front of first-team centre-back Antonio Rudiger, according to reports from Football Insider.
Rudiger has established first-team regular credentials in the wake of Thomas Tuchel taking over the managerial reigns at Stamford Bridge following Frank Lampard’s sacking and the German defender is claimed to be wanting to secure his long-term future for the west Londoners.
However, should the Blues fail to lure the former AS Roma man in extending his stay in the Chelsea colours, reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur would find themselves right in the mix to make a move for the 28-year-old centre-back.
Jose Mourinho is understood to be wanting to sign additional reinforcements for the defensive core at the North London giants and Rudiger, a long-term target for the former Chelsea boss, is high on his wishlist for the summer transfer window.
With just another summer to go until Rudiger’s current deal runs out, the Blues would be keen on sorting out the contract talks swiftly and intensify their focus on securing qualification for the Champions League.
