Chelsea’s interest in signing RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate could be dealt an advantage amid reports of the west Londoners seeking to use personal connections in order to convince Konate to seal the move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
According to claims from Express, new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel’s assistant Zsolt Low has priorly worked with Konate during the former’s days at Leipzig and the Blues are hoping that Low would be the go-to man for luring Konate.
Tuchel is likely to spend big in the summer transfer window as the Chelsea gaffer plans an overhaul of his side, which has enjoyed considerable success on the pitch since the ex-Paris Saint-Germain coach took over to much-anticipation from the club’s fanbase.
With doubts persistent over whether Thiago Silva would choose to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge beyond the close of the 2021-22 season, the Blues would be looking to shore up their first-team defensive options and Konate’s impressive run of form in the Bundesliga has made the Frenchman a major target for clubs across England.
Liverpool’s interest in the 21-year-old is well known and Manchester United too have been reportedly keeping tabs on the Leipzig first-teamer.
