Chelsea’s left-back, Marcos Alonso’s goal against Burnley has deservedly won the Chelsea Goal of the Month for January as per Chelsea Official Website. In a poll of Chelsea supporters, the majority had the same opinion and voted for the wonderful volley the Spaniard produced.
Christian Pulisic passed the ball to Marcos Alonso who received it on his chest, cushioned it on his knee and struck a powerful volley that went past the opponent keeper. It was the goal that put the match to bed and confirmed the Blues’ 2-0 victory.
Indeed, it was a spectacular goal to mark his return to the first XI. He was left out in the cold by former Blues’ manager, Frank Lampard as he often opted to play Ben Chilwell. Seems like he has been revived by the new and current manager, Thomas Tuchel.
The Spanish defender won almost more than 3/4th of the votes in the poll conducted. The second position for the best goal of the month went to the superb long-range effort to earn a goal by Sophie Ingle against Manchester City in the Continental Cup.
Chelsea captain, Cesar Azpilicueta’s opener versus Burnley and Kai Havertz’s header against Morecambe in the FA Cup win were the other nominees.
