Thomas Tuchel secured his first victory for Chelsea as the Blues defeated Burnley 2-0 with the goals coming from two fringe players- Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta.
Chelsea took a lead in the 40th minute of the game when captain, Cesar Azpilicueta scored a fine goal. Jorgino showed an eye-catching move to find Mason Mout from deep in his half. Mount sprinted forward and picked up Callum Hudson Odoi on the right-hand side of the ground. Callum delivered the ball forward to Azpilicueta who in turn did enough to beat Nicolas Pope to score the goal.
His shot was very powerful and was taken from an acute angle. It went inside the net having a little deflection off Erik Pieters.
The right-back still had a lot of work to do, though, to beat Nick Pope from an acute angle, but his powerful shot flew past the England goalkeeper, albeit with the help of a slight deflection off Erik Pieters. Chelsea’s forgotten left-back Marcos Alonso who was in the starting line-up in place of Ben Chilwell scored the second goal late in the second half to seal the game with a 2-0 scoreline.
It was a pretty good display from the Blues in the second half as Burnley couldn’t even keep a single shot on target. With this result, Chelsea moves to the seventh position of the league table but there are still concerns with Timo Werner still struggling in front of the goal. He even squandered an easy chance just before the first goal but nevertheless, three points were secured by Thomas Tuchel’s team.
