Manchester City bossed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as they won the game 3-1 despite the absence of key players due to COVID-19. Despite missing some players, coach Pep Guardiola made full use of his squad and outsmarted Frank Lampard tactically. Chelsea started with Hakim Ziyech who came after a long injury along with Pulisic. Both were unable to provide what the Blues needed.
Man City scored quick three goals in 34 minutes with the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne getting names on the scoresheet. Chelsea got a late consolation goal from Callum Hudson Odoi but overall the team had a totally disastrous night at their home.
Gundogan scored the opening goal with a superb shot that Thiago Silva couldn’t stop despite gliding before him. Phil Foden netted the second goal just after 157 seconds when Thiago Silva couldn’t clear the build-up ball from De Bruyne.
The third goal came when Gundogan again went near to close his second goal but the ball struck the post and from there Kevin De Bruyne scored City’s third.
Chelsea although responded in the second half by replacing struggling N’Golo Kante with Billy Gilmour who was the only bright spot of the game. Kai Havertz assisted late in the match to Callum Hudson Odoi who netted Chelsea’s only goal at the back post.
